About me

I studied philosophy and psychology and found my way into web development while I was still at university, back in the mid-1990s.

Since then, I’ve mainly built and evolved enterprise web applications for major European media organisations. I’ve worked as an independent developer since 2001.

In the early days of the web, browsers seemed to open up new possibilities almost every month, and everyone involved had to keep figuring out what could actually be built with them: develop, experiment, gather feedback, and rethink. Thus, what later became popular as agile development was my natural habitat from the very beginning.

Today, since The Agentic Turn, I feel the same sense of discovery I experienced in 1993, when I first encountered the Internet in a philosophy seminar. I have rarely enjoyed developing software as much as I do these days :-).
